When a man took a selfie when Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar was interacting with the media in Belgaum at an event, the Karnataka minister lost his cool. The minister annoyed by the man hit him and a video of which was circulated widely.
The video shows the minister while he was talking on child rights with the reporters at a recent event got annoyed seeing a man trying to click a selfie with him, he turned around and smacked the man on his arm in front of all the cameras.
Later the minister defended himself, saying what he did was just an ordinary incident. He said, “When I was trying to carry out my responsibilities as a minister and when I was talking to the press, how can anyone come and click a selfie? Have some common sense. What I did was just an ordinary reaction to his act of stupidity and it is an ordinary incident.”
Mr. Shivakumar, who is responsible for handling the portfolio of energy department in the government of Siddaramaiah, in August this year was raided by Income Tax authorities. During the raid, more than 300 Crore of “unrevealed income” was found.
Ahead of Rajya Sabha Election in the western state to check a rash of defecations, the raid was conducted as 43 Gujarat politicians were flown into Karnataka by Congress. From a luxury resort in Bengaluru where Mr. Shivakumar was staying with other ministers, was picked up for questioning. Mr. Shivakumar was also in charge of looking after the politicians.
Denying to any offense, the minister said, “He wasn’t a kind of person who would violate the constitution’s law, and the truth will be out soon”. His party, Congress has accused the government of misusing the authorities of Central agencies, while questioning the timing of raids.
